His legs and arms throbbed with pain, and his head pounded, threatening to split open. Just as he felt his consciousness slipping away, a voice pierced the haze. The voice was a melodious contrast to his chaotic thoughts, and it brought a semblance of calm to his frazzled mind.
His gaze, hazy and unfocused, landed on the face of the person speaking, but he couldn't quite make out their features.
