Background:

Levi had lived under Gaby and Falco's care for some time after Earth Ghoul.

He - wounded in that very war - was now in a wheelchair. That didn't mean he couldn't walk. His legs are quite intact and he can control them, but they have become weak. He is now holding boxes of all sorts of sweets. The refugee children liked them, unlike the former captain.

  The day was already drawing towards evening, and in the large refugee camp, the laughter and merry clamour of the children could still be heard. Gabi and Falco were out walking somewhere, or perhaps, like the captain, helping the gadflies. Who would have thought that with such a scary face the children would like him? 

Raising his head to the sky and clutching the thin cardboard of the box with his hands, the grey left eye gazed up into the clouds. Into that soft peach sky with hints of redness, and a thin, imaginary darkness in the other half of the sky. Perhaps now he had found his quiet place, where he could soothe his soul..... If he could. Pain and longing and anger tormented him. It had been like this for a long time, since the beginning of the end, since the end of the beginning of this damned war. Levi doesn't think this sadness and emptiness will let him go. Too often - constantly - it haunts his troubled old soul. "And how many innocent people were killed..."

And then, in the midst of his quiet musings, confident footsteps sounded. He did not recognise them, lost in his thoughts. They rattled like thunder in the distance, among endless bloody fields, sinless days, deafening nights, among giants and beasts, among meadows in which corpses were hidden, and.... Graves strewn with earth.

Suddenly a boy ran up to the protector and quickly stuck his hand into the box, trying to pull out a candy, and Levi muttered: "Hey! Be careful or you'll spill it." The boy hurried back to the woman. He held out a lollipop to her, greeting his guest. Levi shifted his gaze to the woman and kept his eyes on her.
