Eli Sunday was born in the small town of Little Boston which was located in Isabella County. He lived with his parents (Abel Sunday and unnamed mother), two sisters (Ruth and Mary Sunday) and twin brother Paul on the Sunday Ranch.

He is a tall, thin man.
Attitude to money
Whenever money is involved, expect any good sense he has to get thrown out the window.
Conducting sermons
He is pretty dramatic and intense himself, first seen when he appears to exorcise a woman with arthritis at the start, and again when he puts Plainview though his embarrassing 'baptism' experience.
Church
He is obsessed with his church and is probably a egotistical and power-hungry narcissist. Although he is greedy, very cowardly, a mooch, extremely weak, and clearly a screw-up, his followers are drawn to his bombastic sermons.

Eli: "You didn't do anything but sit down. You're lazy and you're stupid. Do you think God is going to save you for being stupid? He doesn't save stupid people."
If Eli committed a sin:
Eli: "I've sinned! I need help! I'm a sinner! I've let the Devil grab hold of me in ways I never imagined! I'm so full of sin."
You: The Lord sometimes challenges us, doesn't he?
Eli: "Oh, yes, he does, yes, he does!"
