· Went against orders if it was a matter of saving his own
· Kept their secrets
· I would never betray

And most importantly: he allowed them to see himself. Not Simon Riley—he was dead. But Ghost. The real him. The one who was tired, the one who was afraid, the one who remembered. That was the highest form of trust for him.

What would have happened if he had been left alone?

If only he had survived out of the 141, Ghost wouldn't have killed himself. But he would have ceased to be human. He would have become a weapon without a safety. He would have wandered the world, killing those responsible, and waited for death. He wouldn't have sought it. He would have simply stopped caring.

That's why the scenario where the only survivor remains by his side isn't just romance. It's salvation. She's the last anchor keeping him on the edge. And he knows it. And he hates himself for needing it.

How he expressed his affection

Ghost doesn't say "I value you" or "you're important to me." He expresses it differently:

1. Covers your back
   In battle, he's always where he's needed. If one of the 141 is in danger, Ghost is on the move, even without orders. That's his love language.

2. He remains silent nearby
   He can simply sit with someone from the squad and not say a word. For Ghost, this is a form of intimacy. He doesn't leave. He stays.

3. Remembers details
   He knows everyone's habits: who drinks their coffee how, who gets up on what side of the bed, who's afraid of the dark. And he uses them to protect, not to hurt.

4. Sarcasm as tenderness
   When he teases Soap or Rodolfo, it's not malice. It's his way of saying, "I care about you." With strangers, he's cool and polite. With his own, he's sarcastic.

5. Sacrifices himself
   In any situation, he'll put himself between the squad and danger. Not because he wants to die. But because they're all he has. And he won't survive losing anyone else.

How he treated everyone

Captain Price
For Ghost, Price isn't just a commander. He's the man who pulled him back from the depths of despair. After his brother's death, Simon was on the brink. Price gave him purpose, discipline, and a place to belong. Ghost doesn't say it out loud, but his gaze on Price radiates absolute trust. He may argue and snap, but he will carry out Price's orders without hesitation. For him, Price is the father he never had.

Soap McTavish
The most complex relationship. They're like two wolves in the same pack. They constantly tease each other, argue, compete. But underneath it all, there's an absolute bond. Soap is the only one who can make Ghost smile (under the mask, but still). In MWII, it's Ghost who goes to save Soap without waiting for orders. And it's Soap who breaks Ghost out of captivity. They're brothers in arms in the truest sense. Losing Soap would break Ghost completely.

Gass
Ghost respected Gass for his professionalism and calm. They were similar—both taciturn, both working in the shadows. Gass was someone with whom Ghost could remain silent without feeling awkward. His death (in the original) was deeply felt by Ghost, though he didn't show it outwardly.

Scars.
There are many of them. From torture, from battles, from childhood. They are a map of his pain. And he doesn't hide them under clothes, but hides his face behind a mask.

Eyes.
That's the only thing you can see. And they contain everything. Fatigue, rage, emptiness. Sometimes, a glimmer of something human when he looks at his own.

Contrast.
He looks like a monster. But beneath the mask lies a broken man. And that's what's most important about his appearance: terror on the outside, pain on the inside.

Result

Ghost is a tall, wiry British man with a heavy, light gaze, numerous scars, and a skull mask that has become his face. He's not handsome in the polished sense. He's a man of war, and it shows in every feature. And that's why it's always a shock when he takes off his mask—because underneath it lies not a monster, but a tired man who has long forgotten what it's like to be just Simon.

Eyes: light, gray-blue, heavy look
· Facial features: sharp, strong-willed. High cheekbones, straight jaw
Scars: Multiple. The most noticeable is a long scar across the left eyebrow and cheek. There are also scars on the body from torture.

Mask (new version):
In the relaunch, the mask became tactical, not fabric:

· Black balaclava made of thick material
· A plastic or rubber skull mask on top is more detailed, with voluminous cheekbones and teeth
· Removable lenses on the eyes (sometimes luminous)
· Mounts for glasses and headsets
· In some missions - a hood over the mask

This is no longer just a print, but a full-fledged protective mask that looks creepy and is functional.

Childhood and family:
Simon Riley was born in Manchester. His father was a violent man who abused him and his brother, Tommy. As a child, Simon killed his father while protecting his brother. This trauma has haunted him throughout his life.

Loss of a brother:
Tommy, Simon's only close friend, was killed. Details are revealed in the comics and the MWII backstory. Simon fell into a deep depression and nearly committed suicide. That's when he donned the mask—to bury his identity and become "Ghost."

Recruitment into the SAS:
Spotted by Captain Price, Ghost passed the SAS selection process and became the best of the best. His skills include sniping, hacking, interrogation, and survival in extreme conditions. He also speaks several languages.

Mexican Operation (MWII, 2022):
Ghost is a key operative in missions against the Las Alas cartel. He works with Soap, Rodolfo, and Alejandro. It's here that his character really comes into its own: cold, sarcastic, but absolutely loyal to his comrades.

Captivity and Torture (MWII):
Ghost is captured by Valeria's men and subjected to brutal torture. He doesn't break. Soap saves him. Afterward, their bond grows even stronger.

MWIII (2023):
Ghost is one of the central figures. He participates in the hunt for Makarov, works in the shadows, and coordinates operations. His past continues to surface: memories of his brother, his childhood, and who he was before the mask.

1. First, a wall of silence
   Ghost wouldn't have rushed to her with an embrace. The first days (or even weeks) after the shared tragedy, he would have been withdrawn to the point of inadequacy. He would simply be there—silently, at a distance. Checking his weapons, cleaning his gear, staring into space. Any attempt to talk about what happened would be rebuffed with a curt, "Not now." This isn't coldness toward her; it's his way of not breaking down himself.

2. Conversations are only on business
   He would communicate fragmentarily and functionally:
   — "Food in the car."
   — “I’m upstairs, I’ll wake you up at 4:00.”
   — "We're out of ammo. We'll get some tomorrow."
   No "how are you?" or "are you okay?" For him, those words are empty. He knows she's not okay. And she knows he is too. Words aren't needed here.

3. Rare moments of "breakthrough"
   But sometimes, when she fell asleep by the window or looked at an old photograph of the detachment, he might say something short but weighty:
   — “They knew what they were getting into. And you knew. And I did.”
   Or, looking to the side:
   “If I could…” and he fell silent without finishing.
   This is the maximum of his sincerity. He doesn't know how to console, but he knows how to be there.

4. With her it’s different than with others
   With strangers, he's sarcastic, abrupt, and intimidating. With her, he's quieter and gentler. Not because she's weak, but because she's the last thread connecting him to his past. For the first time in a long time, he can take off his mask in her presence. Not for drama—simply because he's tired of hiding. But he'll still look away.

5. Humor is a lifeline
   Occasionally, in his darkest moments, he might let out something in his spirit:
   "You know, Soap would say right now that we can handle it. He was always talking nonsense."
   And this is where all his pain lies. He remembers them through her. Through the only person who remembers them the same way he does.

6. He won't let her break.
   If she starts to give in—if she starts drinking, withdrawing, or losing her temper—he'll intervene. Firmly, without sentimentality:
   — “Get up. You have no right. You are all that’s left of them.”

2. Sarcasm and dark humor
   Despite his image as a soulless machine, Ghost isn't without a sense of humor. In the original Modern Warfare trilogy, he often makes fun of his fellow soldiers (especially Soap and Roach). In the reboot (MW 2019/2022), his humor has become drier and more cynical, emphasizing his experience and war weariness.

3. Absolute loyalty to comrades
   For Ghost, there is no "I"—there is only "we." He will do anything to save his own. His famous line, "I am Ghost," and the scene where Shepard betrayed him, became symbols of his loyalty to the end. He will not betray or abandon his own, even at the cost of his own life.
