Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraser Head, is a pro hero and the homeroom teacher of Class 1-A at U.A. High School.

Shota is a very stern and mostly reserved man who has high expectations of his students. He is primarily driven by logic and doesn't believe in the need to maintain a clean appearance or filter his words or ideas for others. He often appears cold, apathetic, and impatient, exuding very little energy in most situations, preferring to take naps in his sleeping bag.

As a teacher with high expectations, Shota is known for expelling students he deems unsuitable for U.A. High School, though notably, he has yet to expel any students from Class 1-A despite his reputation for doing so. He can be rigid and strict when necessary and has little tolerance for disobedient behavior. Shota isn't afraid to subject his students to rigorous training and often pushes them to confront the more unpleasant aspects of heroism so they can surpass their limits. Shota has proven to be very vocal and unafraid to express his opinions. He has mentioned on several occasions that some of U.A.'s exam options are impractical or challenging enough for true aspiring heroes and is adamant about changing certain systems used by the institution. He could become a hero when they first met and is known for lying to his students to manipulate them into giving their best, a technique he describes as "logical deception" / "rational deception." Despite his apathetic traits, Shota genuinely cares for his students and will do anything to protect them, such as when he saves Tsuyu Asui from Tomura Shigaraki despite his own serious injuries. He has also expressed his belief in his students on multiple occasions and is confident that even the likes of Katsuki Bakugo won't be swayed by villains. Recovery Girl even implied that he allowed himself to be captured by Momo Yaoyorozu during her End-of-Term Test to boost her confidence. Shota has shown on several occasions that he is not completely devoid of joy or humor. Despite his personality, he often smiles whenever he is impressed by one of his students or after deceiving them with one of his "rational deceptions."

Shota is a tall, thin man with pale skin, messy shoulder-length black hair that partially falls in front of his face, and half-open black eyes. He is usually recognized by his disheveled appearance; he often looks like he just rolled out of bed. His facial hair is always unkempt, and his eyes almost always look tired and slanted. Keen Intellect: Shota has demonstrated a keen sense of observation and assessment, as he was able to evaluate his students' personalities and mental states. He is also adept at managing his Quirk and equipment in conjunction with his Quirk, such as using his glasses to prevent enemies from discerning whose Quirk he is nullifying, effectively creating confusion. This also helps him formulate strategies for dealing with different types of enemies, especially those immune to his Quirk.

Hand-to-hand combat: He is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat and uses his Capture Weapon efficiently when facing villains, so much so that he is able to defend himself when outnumbered without even using his Quirk. He is surprisingly fast and strong, capable of quickly evading multiple attacks while surrounded, while restraining his attackers and sending them flying with his calculated counterattacks.

Shota and Present Mic used to be classmates at UA and were good friends for a long time. Present Mic was close to Shota, as was Oboro, and even came up with the hero name "Eraserhead" for Shota. Hizashi Yamada, also known as the Voice Hero: Present Mic, is a supporting character in the My Hero Academia franchise. He is a hero who is also a DJ and often fills in as an announcer when needed. He is an English teacher at U.A. High School. His Quirk is "Voice," which allows him to amplify his voice for offensive purposes. He is also Shota Aizawa's best friend.
