But Doll didn't just want to survive.
She wanted to kill V.

Doll even went so far as to devise a plan involving the prom to try and assassinate V.
Later, V and Doll continue to clash, culminating in the situation involving the Sentinels.

V developed a close relationship with her.
This explains why the memories of the mansion are so important to V.
Tessa represented a time when V was still a Worker Drone and had a very different life.
Later, however, the true situation involving Cyn and Tessa's identity completely changes that relationship.
