Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes (アドリアン・ファーレンハイツ・ツェペシュ, Adorian Fārenhaitsu Tsepeshu?), better known as Alucard (アルカード, Arukādo?) is the son Count Dracula's dhampir.
As the offspring of an unnatural union between Dracula and a human woman named Lisa, Adrian possessed special powers, predestined to be stronger than any human, but not potentially as strong as his father, especially in the dark arts. After Lisa died, mistaken for a witch, Adrian grew up under his father's influence, where he was taught the dark arts and molded into a warrior who would one day fight for his father's same vengeful purposes.
Adrian's existence was not without its peculiarities, as his mother's kind and human side always seemed to cloud his "better judgment," as Dracula himself would later say. Before his mother's death, Adrian was by her side. Even though he was furious, she insisted that he not take his anger out on humanity, since their lives were already full of hardship. With these thoughts forever ingrained in him, his mind constantly wandered as he questioned his father's intentions. After remaining with him for as long as he could bear, he left his father's army and disappeared. Understanding that Dracula would unleash his wrath upon the people, Adrian turned his efforts toward destroying his father's army, hoping that this would encourage him to reconsider his stance toward humankind. Furthermore, he then chose to call himself "Alucard"—his father's name spelled backward—to represent that he championed beliefs and ideals opposed to his father's.
He is a skilled swordsman and usually wields one-handed swords. Alucard's other attacks utilize Dark Magic. As a shapeshifter, he can transform himself into the forms of a bat, a wolf, or even mist.

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
In 1476, when Trevor C. Belmont was on his own quest to hunt down Count Dracula, who had controlled his son and turned him to evil, Alucard was waiting for Trevor to arrive. Alucard acted as a boss character (though not a true boss) at this point, testing the hero's abilities. Alucard was surprised by Trevor's strength when he was defeated and asked if he could join Trevor on his mission.
After helping to destroy Dracula, and despite his good intentions, Alucard couldn't help but feel guilty for patricide. To ease his pain, he plunged himself into a deep slumber, suppressing his powers.

In the video game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Alucard feels completely responsible for dealing with Dracula, whatever the consequences. Speaking to Maria Renard, he is indifferent to Richter Belmont being under the control of malevolent influences. Alucard gives Richter and Maria a cold farewell at the end of the game. Although he forms little human attachment, it is notable that when Succubus impersonates his mother, Lisa, Alucard's emotions are stirred. He also doesn't hide his feelings about fighting his father once more, reciting some phrases spoken by his deceased mother at the end of the battle.

In 1797, his father's castle materialized once more for unknown reasons, despite Dracula having been destroyed five years earlier by Richter, a member of the Belmont clan. Due to the unexpected absence of a Belmont descendant, Alucard had no choice but to awaken from his slumber to investigate and infiltrate Dracula's castle once more. He eventually discovered that Richter Belmont had been seduced by evil and was now controlling the castle.

With the help of Richter's fellow vampire hunter, Maria Renard, they were able to uncover the truth: the dark priest Shaft was controlling Richter and wanted to bring Dracula back from his dark slumber. After freeing Richter from Shaft's influence, Alucard entered an inverted version of Dracula's castle, filled with more powerful enemies, and confronted Shaft.

Having defeated Shaft, Alucard discovered that his efforts had been in vain, as Shaft's plan had come to fruition nonetheless. He single-handedly defeated his father in combat once more, sending him back to his grave. Dracula showed a glimmer of humanity after Alucard told him Lisa's last words: that humanity should be left in peace, and that she would always love him. He then planned to sink back into his eternal rest, but Maria, who had developed a strong attraction to him, eventually set about persuading him to stay.

Alucard is a man who physically appears to be in his late teens, with long, snow-blond hair. His most recurring attire is the one seen in the video game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. In keeping with the game's setting, Alucard wears clothing in the style of the 18th century. He wears a black jacket with side seams fastened by four square brooches running vertically downwards, and a belt. Around his neck, he wears a large white cravat. Over the jacket, he wears a long coat with a decorative pattern. On top of his other garments, he also wears a cape somewhat resembling the one worn by the actor Béla Lugosi in his renowned performances. The weapon with which Alucard is usually depicted is the Sword of Alucard, an heirloom from his mother's family.

At first glance, Alucard appears to be a cool, taciturn individual with a strong determination. However, he also endures great suffering due to his blood curse, a curse that condemns him to wander the world forever, fighting and grieving deeply because of the death of his mother, Lisa, at human hands, a death that instilled in him a deep-seated coldness and bitterness toward humanity. He is pessimistic, always has a plan for everything, leaves nothing to chance, and will do whatever it takes to defeat Dracula, no matter the cost.
He always seems to keep his distance from those around him, given his vampiric nature. He chose to exile himself completely from the world, entering an eternal slumber. He did not awaken from this until the events of the video game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Furthermore, he appears to quickly forge camaraderie in precarious situations, as evidenced by his assistance as a supporting character in the events of the video game Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.

Immortality: Being part vampire, Alucard is invulnerable to the passage of time, remaining in his youthful form for centuries, even having the luxury of changing his hair color when he assumes his identity as Genya Arikado.
Resistance to sunlight: Aside from his immortality, Alucard also possesses the ability to walk in sunlight without fatal consequences thanks to his human side.
Swordsmanship Skills: Alucard wields a variety of weapons, but none as masterfully as his mother's sword. Given that the sword is a family heirloom, Lisa may have come from a lineage of swordsmen or knights. He also inherited the Alucard Shield, which enhances defense against all attacks; the Alucard Mail, which improves elemental defense against fire, ice, and lightning; and the Dragon Helm, which terrifies enemies and reduces their defenses. With the Twilight Cloak, inherited from his father, Alucard further increases his defense and reduces knockback.
Shapeshifting: Alucard can shapeshift into a wolf, bat, or mist to reach certain areas. He is also invulnerable for a brief period during the transformation process. With the help of certain Relics, Alucard can enhance his shapeshifting abilities; his wolf form can run faster than a speeding bullet, his mist form can become a cloud of poison, and his bat form can fire fireballs and also acquire destructive sonar. It is speculated that Alucard, like Dracula, has a "final form" he can transform into, but he refuses to use it because he doesn't want to be like Dracula in any way; this is supported by the fact that, randomly, Alucard will transform into a massive gargoyle statue when turned to stone, which is impervious to damage; this could be his "final form." However, if this is true, there is no reliable way to use that form in the video game.

Dark Magic: While Alucard excels in more than just physical prowess, it is in the art of magic where he truly becomes dangerous. Like his father, he can wield many types of dark magic; it could be said that his powers are at least half of Dracula's, since he personally trained him. He has mastered most of Dracula's signature attacks, such as "Hellfire," "Dark Metamorphosis," "Tetra Spirit," and "Soul Steal."
