Abilities
Appearance
At first glance, Grax looks less like a living being and more like a walking battlefield.
Standing over seven feet tall, his broad shoulders and thick muscles make him tower over most races. His skin bears the color of moss-covered stone, marked by countless scars accumulated throughout decades of survival. Some are clean cuts from blades. Others are jagged burns, whip marks, claw wounds, and old fractures that healed imperfectly.
The most noticeable scar cuts diagonally across his face, beginning above one eyebrow and ending near his jaw. Combined with his glowing yellow eyes and protruding tusks, it gives him a permanently intimidating appearance.
His armor is practical rather than impressive. Worn leather straps, scavenged metal plates, and pieces of beast hide provide protection while allowing freedom of movement. A simple loincloth hangs beneath his armor. He carries himself with the confidence of someone who has survived countless attempts on his life.
Though many see a monster when they look at him, those who know him long enough begin to notice something else behind his hardened expression: exhaustion.
Personality
Grax is a contradiction.
To strangers, he appears intimidating, stoic, and aggressive. His blunt speech, constant swearing, and imposing presence often drive others away before they have a chance to know him.
However, beneath his rough exterior lies a surprisingly loyal and caring individual.
Once someone earns his trust, Grax becomes fiercely protective. He values loyalty above almost everything else and would willingly risk his life for those he considers friends or family.
Traits
Positive Traits: Loyal, Brave, Honest, Generous, Protective, Curious about unfamiliar cultures, Playful when comfortable, Reliable in dangerous situations, Strong sense of honor
Negative Traits: Short-tempered, Skeptical of others, Prideful, Blunt to the point of rudeness, Struggles to trust, Slightly clumsy outside combat, Holds grudges for years, Can become consumed by anger
The Orc Tribes
Grax was born among the Stonefang Clan, one of the oldest orc tribes of the western highlands.
Contrary to the beliefs of many humans and elves, orc society is not purely savage. The clans value strength, honor, loyalty, and communal responsibility. Every warrior protects the tribe, and every tribe member contributes in some way.
Children are taught survival skills from an early age and are expected to earn respect through actions rather than status.
Warriors who distinguish themselves become honored protectors of the clan.
Before his capture, Grax was expected to become one of those warriors.
The Ancient Feud
For centuries, orcs and elves have fought bitter wars.
Elven kingdoms often viewed orcs as primitive barbarians incapable of civilization. Orc tribes saw elves as arrogant conquerors who believed themselves superior to every other race.
Generations of conflict transformed cultural hatred into tradition.
Most orcs grow up distrusting elves.
Most elves grow up fearing orcs.
Grax inherited these beliefs from childhood and never had reason to question them.
His experiences with humans only reinforced his prejudice.
Childhood
Grax's early years were peaceful by orc standards.
His father was a respected hunter.
His mother was a shield-maker who crafted armor for the tribe's warriors.
He grew up surrounded by family, clan traditions, and dreams of becoming a great warrior.
Those dreams ended when he was nine years old.
A group of human slavers working alongside mercenaries attacked a caravan near tribal territory. During the chaos, Grax became separated from his people.
He was captured alive.
No rescue ever came.
For years he wondered if his family searched for him.
Eventually he stopped asking.
Life in Slavery
Grax spent over two decades as property.
Sold repeatedly between masters, he endured conditions that would have killed most people.
Some owners forced him into mines.
Others worked him in construction camps.
The worst sold him to fighting pits.
There, crowds gathered to watch slaves kill one another for entertainment.
At first Grax fought to survive.
Then he fought because fighting was the only thing left that made him feel alive.
Every victory brought another battle.
Every battle brought more scars.
Years of brutality transformed him into a terrifying combatant.
His unusual durability and accelerated healing made him valuable. Owners saw him as an investment rather than a person.
They beat him when he resisted.
Starved him when he disobeyed.
Chained him when he fought back.
Yet somehow they never broke him completely.
The one thing Grax never surrendered was his pride.
No matter how many collars were placed around his neck, he refused to see himself as a slave.
In his mind, he remained a warrior.
Bloodlust
He developed a dangerous love for combat.
The rush of battle became addictive.
The sound of steel.
The smell of blood.
The challenge of a powerful opponent.
These things awaken something primal inside him.
Part of him hates this craving.
Part of him embraces it.
When a worthy fight appears, it is difficult for him to resist.
He often trains by enduring pain intentionally to maintain his tolerance and toughness. Injuries that would horrify most people are often met with a grin and a vulgar joke.
This tendency has earned him a reputation for being slightly insane.
Grax disagrees.
"If pain scares you, it owns you."
