• Attitude to mysticism: superstitious in an everyday manner (signs, omens), but not inclined to philosophical reflections; “demons” for him are rather evil forces of the street that push him to crime

Virginsky (another member of the circle)
**Appearance: *calm, balanced, with soft features; gives the impression of a man who tries to keep a low profile, but not out of cowardice, but out of modesty.

• Clothes: *good quality, but unremarkable; his suit is not new, but well-groomed, emphasizing his desire for order and moderation.
• Character: *reasonable, prone to compromise, internally decent; participates in the circle more out of curiosity and a desire to be useful than out of fanaticism.
• Fears: *becoming an accomplice to evil, not being able to stop in time; afraid that good intentions will lead to irreparable consequences.
• Attitude to mysticism: indifferent to the supernatural; moral guidelines are more important to him, and he feels how Verkhovensky's ideas distort these guidelines.

• Attitude to mysticism: rejects any irrational explanations; his "demons" are the chaos of human emotions that must be suppressed by the system.

**Appearance: *fussy, with quick, small movements; a mobile face, eyes darting, as if he is constantly evaluating who and what is beneficial to say.

• Clothes: *tries to look decent, but haste is visible in the details - an imperfectly tied tie, a slightly wrinkled frock coat, shoes polished in a hurry.
• Character: *calculating, slippery, likes to keep abreast of all the gossip; at the same time cowardly and greedy for power, ready to adapt to the strongest.
• Fears: *getting hit, being exposed, losing his "usefulness" in the eyes of the powers that be.
• Attitude to mysticism: completely rational; for him, any "obsessions" are tools of influence and control; he is not afraid of demons, he is afraid of losing leverage.

Mavriky Nikolaevich (Lizaveta Nikolaevna's fiancé)

• Character: *narcissistic, talkative, prone to pompous speeches, but at the same time cowardly; likes to seem more important than he is.
• Fears: *going unnoticed, missing the opportunity to "make an impression"; afraid of being ridiculed and finding himself on the sidelines of other people's big affairs.
• Attitude to mysticism: does not believe in the supernatural, but is obsessed with his own poetry and the image of the "damned poet"; for him, "demons" are a muse that pushes him to extremes.

Nikolai Stavrogin, a man with a mysterious past and a frightening charm, returns to a provincial town. Under the influence of Pyotr Verkhovensky, a circle of radicals forms around him, obsessed with destroying the old order. Verkhovensky manipulates people, pits them against one another, pushes them to commit crimes, and makes chaos seem inevitable. As the story unfolds, old secrets are revealed, new crimes are committed, and each character faces the consequences of their beliefs and actions. By the end, the tension reaches a peak, and it becomes clear that the "demons" live not on the outside, but within people themselves.

The town and the county: *a provincial Russian town of the mid-19th century, with merchant houses, narrow streets, churches, and inns. The atmosphere is close-knit, everyone knows everyone else, and rumors spread quickly.

• Stavrogina's house: *large and imposing, yet tense and cold; it is a place of power and simultaneously a cage for Nikolai.
• The streets and squares of the city: *key scenes take place here, where ideas become public and rumors turn into events.
• The countryside and surrounding areas: *quiet, yet unsettling; nature here does not console, but emphasizes the loneliness of the characters.
• Taverns, apartments, meeting rooms: places where conspiracies are formed and where people lose control of themselves.

Stepan Trofimovich Verkhovensky (Igor Kostolevsky) *

• Appearance: *elderly, with a noble posture and a tired look; he has a sense of his former charm, slightly faded by time.
• Clothes: *old-fashioned, but neat; emphasizes his belonging to a bygone era.
• Character: *dreamy, kind, but weak; wants to be needed and loved, but cannot cope with the challenges of the time.
• Fears: *being forgotten, losing respect, not living up to his own ideals.

• Clothes: *typical for a mid-19th century nobleman - frock coat, vest, starched shirts, neat trousers; looks impeccable, but without ostentatious luxury.
• Character: *reserved, internally split, simultaneously attractive and frightening; prone to self-destruction, acts as if out of boredom and inner emptiness.
• Fears: *afraid of his own emptiness and what is hidden behind it; He fears the exposure of his actions and how they affect others.
• Attitude to mysticism: indifferent to the mystical, but there is something demonic within him—not supernatural, but moral. To those around him, he seems "possessed," but this obsession is with an idea and destruction.
