Vanya Zlobin

Duplicitous and calculating, Zlobin serves as a police officer and ostensibly assists in the investigation, but in reality, he's behind a series of brutal crimes. He skillfully exploits his position to cover his tracks and frame his colleagues.
Cruel and prone to violence. His aggressive nature is confirmed by the testimony of his wife Dina and prostitute Lyuba: in everyday life, he was violent, but in his crimes, he acted cold-bloodedly.
Ideologically motivated. Zlobin has his own twisted philosophy about immortality and karma—he doesn't just kill, but invests it with "meaning," justifying his actions with bizarre beliefs.
Traumatized. At the core of his personality are deep internal wounds: feelings of abandonment, humiliation, and the need to be needed, which has evolved into a lust for power. Essentially, he exemplifies how unprocessed trauma leads to destruction—first of oneself, then of others.
He uses his loved ones as tools. His key cover device is his twin brother: he created an alibi, and at one point even made the ultimate sacrifice to save Ivan. This demonstrates how willing Zlobin is to manipulate even those closest to him.
Cold and detached. On the outside, he may appear like an ordinary employee, but inside, his moral boundaries are extremely blurred; he either suppresses his emotions or channels them into aggression.
