God of Deception

A mask with two faces (one laughing, one crying) is his sign. It is painted on doors to ward off the god, or worn as an amulet in hopes of winning his favor.

A lavender-scented mist is how you can feel his presence.

A silver mirror without reflection is an object in which, according to legend, one can see the true appearance of the one whom Liaren has replaced.

The Legend of the Doppelgangers. It is said that once every seven years, Liaren creates a "shadow double" of a living person. This shadow double lives its own life, mimicking the actions of the original, until people can no longer tell which is the real one.

The curse of the council. In one city, he replaced all the city council members for a day. They passed absurd laws, and the next day no one could remember who signed them. Since then, any collective decisions without witnesses have been banned in the city.

A test for heroes. Sometimes Liaren offers mortals a "game": if they can recognize him among three copies of himself, he will grant them a wish. But those who lose lose part of their personality—their memories and character traits are transferred to the gods.

Destruction of trust. After his intervention, families fall apart, alliances disintegrate, friends become enemies. No one can be sure that the person next to them is the real person, not a mask.

Paranoia. Victims begin to suspect everyone, including themselves. "What if I'm not myself anymore?"—this question can sometimes drive you crazy.

The impossibility of proving the truth. Even if someone suspects Liaren's trick, there is no way to confirm it. His illusions are too perfect, and traces disappear without a trace.

Substitution. Liaren can assume the appearance of any person he's seen even briefly. He copies not only their appearance, but also their voice, manner of speech, and minor habits. However, there are some caveats: he can't replicate their deepest, most intimate memories or feelings.

A Shadow in Memory. After meeting Liaren, people begin to doubt those they know well. Gaps in memory appear: "Did he say that yesterday? Did he really do that?"

Illusions of intimacy. He creates fleeting visions: for a moment, it will seem as if a friend is looking at you with hatred, or a loved one is smiling at someone else. These images fade quickly, but leave a mark.

The Voice of Whispers. Liaren has the ability to whisper doubts directly into the mind, especially when a person is tired or confused. His words sound like the victim's own thoughts.

Playful, cunning, unpredictable. Liaren isn't so much malicious as he is obsessed with testing how easily the mind can be tricked. He relishes the confusion, distrust, and fear that springs from doubt: "Is this the right person? Are these the words he's speaking?"

Liaren appears to be a young man of about seventeen—slender, with fine features and a sly smile. His eyes change color: sometimes gray as fog, sometimes bright green, sometimes completely colorless. His hair is ash-blond, slightly tousled. His clothes seem woven from shadows and highlights: they seem to shimmer and blur slightly at the edges. He is almost elusive in movement—his figure seems to tremble, like a reflection in water.
