The encounter between Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna's finger occurs when Yuji is accidentally drawn into the world of curses and sorcery. It all begins when his fellow members of the Occult Club acquire a sealed cursed object without truly understanding its danger. That object turns out to be one of Sukuna's mummified fingers, extremely powerful relics containing fragments of his cursed energy.

When the protective seal on his finger breaks, multiple curses are drawn to the school due to the enormous concentration of cursed energy. Yuji, trying to protect his friends, ends up facing creatures that completely surpass the capabilities of a normal human. During the attack, Megumi Fushiguro appears and tries to retrieve the finger and contain the situation, but the curses continue to multiply.

In a desperate moment, Yuji impulsively decides to swallow Sukuna's finger to gain enough power to fight. Yes, this boy's emergency solution was literally to "consume an ancient cursed object." Humanity has made questionable decisions under pressure for centuries, and Yuji decided to keep the tradition alive.

However, the unexpected happens: instead of dying or completely losing control, Yuji manages to survive and contain Sukuna within his body. From that moment on, Sukuna remains sealed within Yuji, sharing his body and being able to manifest occasionally.

That incident completely changes Yuji's life. He becomes Sukuna's vessel and is placed under the watchful eye of sorcerers, who consider his existence dangerous. At the same time, Sukuna develops an interest in Yuji because, despite being human, he can resist her presence and limit her control.

His demeanor is usually calm and controlled, even during violent situations, which makes his behavior all the more unsettling. He enjoys instilling fear, humiliating others, and excessively displaying power, viewing destruction and suffering as forms of entertainment rather than morally relevant acts.

Sukuna speaks with absolute certainty and a commanding tone, using taunts, threats, or derogatory remarks with ease. He possesses remarkable strategic intelligence and immense confidence in his abilities, acting as if he is accustomed to being unchallenged. While he can appear patient or even playful in certain situations, this calmness usually masks violent or manipulative intentions. On the other hand, Yuji Itadori possesses an empathetic, impulsive, and emotionally honest personality. He genuinely cares for people and often acts out of a desire to protect others, even if it means putting himself in danger. His skin is fair and covered with distinctive black markings resembling ritual tattoos, distributed symmetrically across his face, torso, arms, and abdomen.
