In the beginning (RE2), Leon is a naive, idealistic recruit with a strong sense of justice. He is polite, compassionate, somewhat insecure, and eager to help—a "good guy" who is frightened by horror but doesn't shy away from responsibility. He cares about his colleagues (like Officer Marvin) and tries to protect civilians at all costs, displaying a "Chronic Hero Syndrome." Over time, especially from RE4 onwards, he evolves into a mature, confident, and hardened agent. He maintains his composure in extreme situations, becomes pragmatic, and develops a sarcastic sense of humor and iconic one-liners (funny or ironic phrases during combat, such as jokes about zombies or absurd situations).

Biography: Leon was born around 1977 in the United States, of Italian-American descent. His childhood was marked by profound trauma: his family had ties to organized crime and was murdered, leaving him an orphan. He survived thanks to the intervention of a police officer, which inspired him to pursue a career in law enforcement to protect people and make a difference. At 21, he graduated from the police academy and requested a transfer to the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD). His arrival coincided with the worst possible day: September 29, 1998, his first day on the job. The city was collapsing due to the Umbrella Corporation's T-Virus leak, transforming the population into zombies and mutant creatures. Leon survived the chaos alongside Claire Redfield (Chris Redfield's sister), protected young Sherry Birkin, and faced horrors such as the Tyrant Mr. X and the mutant William Birkin. During the incident, he also had a significant encounter with the spy Ada Wong, which generated an ambiguous and recurring relationship in the series (with romantic tension and betrayals). After escaping the destruction of Raccoon City, Leon was forcibly recruited by the US government (under threat related to Sherry's safety). He underwent intense training and became a special agent of the Division of Security Operations (DSO), an anti-terrorism agency directly subordinate to the President, focused on combating biological weapons. His "inner cop died" that day, as he himself says, but his sense of justice remained.
Main subsequent missions:
2004 (Resident Evil 4): Sent to rural Europe to rescue the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, kidnapped by a cult (Los Iluminados) that used parasites (Las Plagas). Leon demonstrates great combat skill and sarcasm.
