Appearance
Tamaki is a tall young man with rather pale skin. His ears are pointed, resembling those of an elf. He has messy indigo hair that sticks up behind his head and small, tired-looking eyes. His forehead is partially covered by his bangs, despite the fact that they are supposed to be parted to avoid obstructing his vision. His shoulders are usually hunched, and he avoids making eye contact with people.

When wearing his school uniform, Tamaki wears his outfit in a sloppy manner. His tie isn't fully tightened and his shirt isn't folded as it should be, making it seem like he doesn't put much effort into his appearance.

Tamaki's Hero Costume consists of a black suit decorated with gold-colored trim around the arms and shoulders. He wears a white tunic, as well as a matching cape and hood that features more gold plating on the upper part of the hood. The cape connects to a scarf-like collar that has a silver mask on the front. He also wears a purple mask over his face, as well as a matching carrier vest with red straps. He wears a mask over his eyes and is barefoot, which gives him more freedom of movement when using his Quirk.

Personality
Tamaki is extremely shy, distant, depressed, and introverted, especially in public. He gets nervous very easily when talking to other people. If his anxiety gets the better of him, Tamaki will often walk away and lean against a wall to hide his face from others.[2] This also happens when Tamaki has a bad feeling or feels insulted.[3]

Tamaki doesn't believe anyone should undermine another person's hard work. He noticed that Class 1-A couldn't recognize the amount of work Mirio Togata put into perfecting his own power and even showed his face to comment on it.[4] He is also quick to point out when others are overly optimistic in his pessimistic view and fail to recognize their own accomplishments. His pessimism is a direct contrast to the optimism of his teacher, Fat Gum. Even after being praised by Fat Gum, Tamaki often receives his mentor's compliments as mockery.

While his physical abilities and Quirk are exceptional, Tamaki is very socially awkward and lacks confidence in his own powers and abilities, as shown when he belittled himself for manifesting extra wings while capturing villains. He is seemingly overwhelmed by the pressure to be perfect, and this has damaged his self-esteem, causing him to push himself to the limit to meet the expectations set by Fat Gum, Mirio, and others who believe in him.

Skills
General Abilities: Tamaki is one of the most powerful students at UA, along with Mirio Togata and Nejire Hado, who are known as the Big Three. It has been said that Tamaki possesses skills and abilities that far surpass those of most Pro Heroes.

Tamaki has mastered his Quirk through rigorous training. He possesses the ability to manipulate feature selection, size manipulation, and simultaneous manifestations. This gives Tamaki's fighting style incredible variation and unpredictability.[8]

Tamaki makes sure to eat plenty of takoyaki and clams every day because he believes they are excellent for both offense and defense. He often uses his tentacle fingers to bind his opponents and defends himself using a clam shell.[5] Tamaki also has a variety of other powerful combinations, including using chicken claws reinforced with octopus muscles or tentacle fingers reinforced with crab shells. Fat Gum firmly believes that Tamaki's abilities are above his own and those of an entire team of pro heroes and students, including the rest of the Big Three, Ryukyu, Eraserhead, and Rock Lock.

Tamaki has demonstrated his strength on multiple occasions. He was able to effortlessly neutralize dangerous villains before they temporarily erased his Quirk.[5] Tamaki's mettle was demonstrated when he faced Toya Setsuno, Yu Hojo, and Soramitsu Tabe of the Shie Hassaikai in a 3-on-1 fight and was confident he could take on the Yakuza trio by himself.

In an emergency drill, Tamaki defended against Mashirao Ojiro's rapid attacks and momentarily trapped him, preventing him from moving. Also in the drill, he kicked and knocked back Izuku Midoriya when his guard was down, and during the Paranormal Liberation War, he was able to quickly knock out several members of the Liberation Front.

Tactical Intellect: Tamaki demonstrates incredible tactical judgment during fights. He acted swiftly to trap Toya, Yu, and Soramitsu simultaneously, giving the Heroes an advantage. Afterward, he declared it a bad idea for all the heroes present to fight the three Yakuza at once, correctly deducing that the villains were trying to hold the heroes off as long as possible so Overhaul could escape with Eri. He pointed out that it was best for the rest of his comrades, especially Eraserhead, to save their Quirks for when they ventured deeper into the Yakuza stronghold and needed to be at 100% power to break through the shifting walls caused by Mimic's Quirk.

Quirk/Gift
Manifest (再さい現げん Saigen?): Tamaki's Quirk grants him the ability to manifest the characteristics of anything he has eaten. The more of the substance Tamaki consumes, the stronger his manifestation becomes. Furthermore, everything he manifests is significantly stronger than normal, as seen by how easily his crab claws were able to crush metal weapons.

You can only manifest the traits of substances that are still in your system, and you lose access to those traits once the substance is fully digested. You need to replenish your Gift every day and must decide what foods to eat in advance.
