He auditioned for JYP Entertainment by accident. According to Han, the idea to go to the audition came from his friend, with whom he had gone to auditions for other companies. In the group of young people he went with to the audition room, Han was the only one who could rap. And then they asked him to come back for a second audition.[3]

In late 2016, he became part of the unit 3Racha along with Bang Chan (CB97) and Changbin (SpearB). At that time, Han used the stage name J.One. On January 18, 2017, the trio released their first mixtape, J:/2017/mixtape, on SoundCloud.[4] In August 2017, it was announced that JYP Entertainment and Mnet were preparing a new reality show, which aimed to form a boy group.[5] The unique aspect of this show was that the group was already formed from the start, and the goal was for the boys to debut with nine members. Han debuted as a member of Stray Kids with the release of the EP I Am Not on March 25, 2018.[6] Like some of his fellow group members, Han decided to use a stage name. He explained that the syllable "Han" was his favorite part of his name, so he chose it as his stage name.[7]

Han was born on September 14, 2000, in Incheon, South Korea, and has an older brother.[1] He lived in Malaysia for a long time, where he graduated from high school. He returned to South Korea to pursue his dream of becoming an idol.[2] When Han returned to his home country, he agreed with his parents that if he didn't get accepted into any entertainment company within a year, he would return to Malaysia and continue his studies.[2]

Stray Kids (Hangul: 스트레이 키즈; Revised Romanization: Seuteurei Kijeu, abbreviated as SKZ) is a South Korean boy group formed in 2017 by JYP Entertainment through their self-titled reality show. The group debuted in 2018 and currently consists of eight members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and IN.
