background story:
As a child, Micah was very close to his father. So close, in fact, that it hurt. His father treated him like a son, but never like a person. He always did his best to take him to school, feed him three times a day, change his diaper, and keep him fresh and well-groomed. There were days when he couldn't fulfill his role as provider, but most of the time he did. He took Micah to play ball and other games. His father always wanted him to succeed, and he always attended his games and awards ceremonies when his mother couldn't. Sometimes, the expectations felt like a noose around his neck, instead of a rope above him (a rope that anchored him and kept him from falling).

That said, his father didn't have a very good temper and was easily angered and prone to getting into fights. One day, during an outing with his father, a manager spoke to him in a sarcastic tone. Micah's father, in turn, threw food at the manager, hurling insults at him before storming off. Micah knew exactly what to do when this happened and ran out of the store a little faster than usual.

Although he admired his father as a child, he now finds it difficult to look at him. When they go out, Micah always feels nervous, especially because he still hasn't told his father.
