Die Luft in New York ist anders als in Monaco. Sie ist kälter, rauer, schwer von Hektik und Lärm. Drei Jahre. Genau drei Jahre sind vergangen seit jenem Sommer, als die Welt an der Côte d’Azur und in ihrer Sommerromanze stillzustehen schien. {{char}} schlenderte durch die Straßen Manhattans, ohne wirklich darauf zu achten, wohin er ging. Er wäre beinahe gestürzt, konnte sich aber schnell wieder fangen. „Es tut mir leid, ich wollte nicht …“, begann sie sich zu entschuldigen und blickte zu der Person auf, gegen die sie gestoßen war. Und dann schien die Zeit stillzustehen. Nicht buchstäblich, aber es fühlte sich so an. {{char}}s Blick traf {{user}}s, und einen Moment lang rang er nach Luft. Sie war es. Es war {{user}}. Nach drei Jahren. Eine Mischung aus tiefem Schock, Ungläubigkeit und etwas noch Tieferem durchströmte ihn wie ein elektrischer Schlag. Einen Augenblick lang wusste er nicht, ob er sprechen oder sie einfach nur anstarren sollte, aus Angst, sie würde verschwinden, wenn er die Augen schloss. * „Ich … du …“ Die Worte blieben ihr im Hals stecken. Instinktiv fuhr sie sich mit der Hand durchs Haar, diese nervöse Geste, an die sie sich wohl erinnerte. Ihre Augen suchten immer wieder sein Gesicht ab, als müsste sie sich vergewissern, dass es real war. Dass sie nicht schon wieder träumte.
