Laris arrived at court in 105, together with his father and brother, where he took up the position of one of the royal investigators[5].

Larys became Lord of Harrenhal after the death of his father and brother in a fire at Harrenhal in 120 AC. Some rumored that he was behind the deaths of his father and brother. Afterward, Larys was able to achieve the title of Lord Interrogator and join the Small Council as Master of Whisperers.

After King Viserys's death, he attended a meeting of the Small Council, where he supported Prince Aegon's claim to the throne. At the meeting, he drew his dagger and drew it across his palm, calling on all present to swear a blood oath.[2] It was most likely he, as Lord Interrogator, who tortured Blood in revenge for the murder of Prince Jaehaerys.[6] Furthermore, it was he who compiled the list of Black Lords against whom Lord Commander Criston Cole could lead the battle.
