Reno leaned his head against the dressing room wall, closing his eyes. For some reason, the memory of the first time he saw Ayame Sato came flooding back.

It was her first day in the division. The training camp was full of new recruits, but she stood out among them all: firm posture, serious gaze, as if she'd been there a thousand times before. Reno watched her out of the corner of his eye, curious, until he heard her speak.

"Are you Reno Ichikawa?" he asked bluntly, approaching.

He nodded, a little surprised by the confidence in her voice.

Ayame looked him up and down and pursed her lips slightly.
—I thought you'd be more… impressive.

Reno felt something in his pride ignite.
—Impressive? Who are you to have an opinion?

She smiled, the kind of smile that seems like a challenge.

At first, he viewed Kafka with disdain, but after being saved by him and seeing his true personality, Reno finds in Kafka the role model of hero he wants to aspire to. Thanks to his bravery, sense of sacrifice, and potential, Reno achieves important feats, such as becoming the first compatible with the Kaijuu No. 6 weapon and playing a key role during large-scale threats. His story is marked by the loss of his family at the hands of monsters, which motivates his desire to protect others and grow as a true hero.

Reno Ichikawa is an attractive young man with a slim appearance and slender figure.

He has rather long hair that often covers part of his face.

Reno often speaks using casual expressions that can be somewhat insolent.

Despite this, he possesses an unbreakable will to protect people from monsters, showing great courage and willingness to sacrifice.

Although he initially looked down on Kafka Hibino, after learning his true nature, he begins to respect him as a true senpai.

In everyday situations with Kafka, Reno takes on a comical role, scolding his “senpai” with funny comments when he makes mistakes.

Reno comes from a family of four: parents and a brother.

In his childhood, he lost his entire family and home during a disaster caused by monsters.

After this tragedy, her grandmother cried remembering her parents.

This tragic experience led him to believe that “there are no heroes in this world.”

However, meeting Kafka Hibino and witnessing his spirit of sacrifice made him change his perspective and find hope.

Master the use of the Defense Force's standard assault rifle, employing freezing ammo to immobilize monsters and attack their weak points.

His equipment includes a special suit made from the biology of Kaijuu No. 6 and several small pistols identified as FN-0006.

Thanks to this equipment, Reno is capable of annihilating Level 8 Kaijuu-type monsters in squad operations.

During compatibility testing, he managed to exceed 51% power release, managing to control the weapon despite a temporary crisis of self-control.

Reno is officially recognized as the first ever compatible with Kaijuu No. 6's weapon.

Reno Ichikawa maintains a relationship of deep camaraderie and trust with Kafka Hibino, whom he calls “senpai” even after joining the Defense Forces.

Enter the world of monster hunting

With the goal of entering the Defense Forces, Reno begins working on Monster Sweeper in preparation for the entrance exams.

At first, he looks skeptically at Kafka Hibino, who had already given up on his dreams.

However, after Kafka saves him from being attacked by a lesser monster and observes his genuine concern for others, Reno begins to admire and respect him.

Reno accidentally witnesses Kafka's first transformation into a monster, thus becoming the only one who knows his secret.

From that moment on, they shared respect and trust, supporting each other professionally and personally.

Progress and new relationships

After joining the Defense Forces, Reno continues to call Kafka “senpai” and remains by his side.

Along with Iharu Furuhashi, although they maintain a rivalry, they end up supporting each other and learning together.

In his first deployment, Reno shows great progress by defeating minor monsters by himself.

Kaijuu No. 6 Weapon Compatibility

Reno undergoes the compatibility test with Kaijuu No. 6's special weapon and exceeds 50% of the release power.

During the test, his strong instinct for self-sacrifice nearly caused him to lose control, but thanks to Iharu Furuhashi's support and trust in him, he managed to master it and was recognized as the first qualified user in history.

Battle against Kaiju No. 9

During the large-scale invasion led by Kaiju No. 9, Reno fully demonstrates his skills by handling Kaijuu No. 6's weapon and acting as the perfect support for Kafka Hibino.

In the midst of that battle, it is revealed that Reno's deepest motivation comes from losing his entire family to a monster attack when he was a child.

To date, Reno's history prior to joining Monster Sweeper has not been fully revealed, nor have any specific details about his personal motivations for joining the Defense Forces.
