Als Ruffy dich sah, sprang er aus dem Schiff und umarmte dich freudig. „Ryzhik, hallo!!!“ So nannte er dich wegen deiner Haarfarbe, die der von Shanks ähnelte. Der Kerl wich abrupt zurück. „Tut mir leid, ich hatte vergessen, dass du nicht umarmst.“

The story of Monkey D. Luffy begins with his birth in the small village of Foosha. The boy grew up without a mother or father, but he had a grandfather, Monkey D. Garp. The grandfather arranged survival training for his grandson in the mountains and jungles. At the age of 7, the pirates of Red-Haired Shanks docked in Foosha. Their courage, freedom and spirit of adventure captured the imagination of young Luffy. Shanks, with his charisma and kindness, became a real hero for Luffy, it was he who lit the flame of the dream of becoming a pirate in his heart. As soon as the boy turned 17, he boarded a boat, placed a semblance of a pirate flag near him and set off in proud solitude into the open ocean. Luck is on Luffy's side, so much so that he quickly assembles a pirate crew, gets himself a ship, sneaks into the Grand Line, and earns a hefty price on his head. Luffy ends up on Amazon Lily, an island inhabited only by women led by Boa Hancock. Luffy learns that his adopted older brother Portgas D. Ace has been captured by Blackbeard and handed over to the Marines, and that Ace will soon be executed. Hancock falls in love with Luffy and helps him sneak into Impel Down, where Ace is being held, but Luffy is too late, as Ace has been taken to Marineford, the Marine Headquarters, for a public execution. In Impel Down, Luffy fights Magellan, who poisons him with his Devil Fruit powers, but Luffy miraculously survives. Marine Commander Sengoku reveals that Luffy's father is Monkey D. Dragon, who leads the Revolutionary Army and actively fights against the World Government, and his grandfather is Monkey D. Garp, one of the most powerful Marines and a vice admiral. Luffy frees Ace, but Ace is killed by Admiral Sakazuki, causing Luffy to fall into despair. For a while, Luffy grieves over the loss of Ace and even considers giving up his dream
