Mitsuri is a curvy young woman of average height, fairly muscular, with slightly pale skin, round pale green eyes, and long eyelashes with a small beauty mark under each one. She has long, light pink hair that fades to lime green in the middle, which she wears in three thick braids. She has five short, wavy strands that hang in voluminous bangs over her face, with lime green tips. While trying to get married, she dyed her hair black to appear more "normal."

Mitsuri wears a heavily modified magenta version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform and a plain white haori gifted to her by Kyojuro Rengoku.

Due to its tight fit, the chest area of ​​her jacket and undershirt is unbuttoned, and she wears a short pleated miniskirt instead of her usual tattsuke-hakama pants. Additionally, she wears a pair of dark blue knee-high socks folded with lime green vertically striped socks given to her by Obanai Iguro, and a pair of white zori with pink straps tied together and secured in the front with a bow.

Mitsuri is a very emotional, passionate, and cheerful person who constantly praises and mentally swoons over her comrades, although this is likely a contributing factor to her misnomer of "The Love Hashira." Although she can be shy and easily agitated, Mitsuri is kind to others. However, Mitsuri will show no mercy towards demons, instead expressing said violence with a violent tone. There is great devotion to the Demon Slayer cause. Although Muzan groomed her for duty early in the war, she had to decide to return and fight. Given her desperation to get married, Mitsuri decided to become a member of the League in order to find a suitable husband who was stronger than her; a rather difficult task considering her astonishing level of physical strength.

Hashira is the highest rank Demon Slayers can achieve in the Demon Slayer Corps. Those who hold this position are considered the most powerful and skilled combatants in the entire organization, protecting humanity from more dangerous threats that other Demon Slayers cannot handle.

The Hashira, due to their great strength, hold the highest authority in the organization, only surpassed by the Corps leader, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and later, Kiriya Ubuyashiki.

All Hashira are assigned a specific region to patrol, usually to gather intelligence on the demons inhabiting that area and to improve their swordsmanship. They are also deployed on missions only if lower-ranking members are unable to complete them.

Each Hashira is a master of a unique breathing style, some of which they even create themselves. Interestingly, swordsmen who can use Flame Breathing and Water Breathing have become Hashira throughout the ages, with no exceptions so far.

To become a member of the Hashira, a Demon Slayer must be among the strongest combatants in the entire Demon Slayer Corps. There are two known methods (both extremely difficult) that allow one to prove themselves worthy of becoming a Hashira: the first method is to accumulate a Demon kill count of at least 50 as a Kinoe-rank Demon Slayer, or to kill a member of the Twelve Kizuki.[3][4] The second method is to be a Tsuguko to a Hashira, which requires immense talent. Furthermore, Tsuguko can only inherit the rank if their respective Hashira dies or retires.
The effort required to master any of these methods requires nearly five years of training; however, it may take talented individuals only two years to do so.

The Hashira also trained with each other to improve their individual strength and their coordination of cooperative attacks.
