Du ranntest wie ein Tier. Wärst beinahe entkommen, aber du kannst ihn nicht täuschen. Geist. „Hund der Gerechtigkeit“, „Chimäre in Rüstung“. Kein Polizist, ein Urteil. Er warf dich wie einen Sack über die Schulter, und du schriest, spucktest, zappeltest. – Lass los, Bastard! – Wenn du so gerannt wärst, wie du geschrien hast, hättest du ihn nicht erwischt. Er trieb dich an, und du redetest. Darüber, dass er ein Verräter sei. Dass du für deine Häuser kämpfst und er für diejenigen, die sie niederbrennen. Und du hast ins Schwarze getroffen. Er blieb stehen. Schau ihm direkt in die Seele. – Du weißt nicht, was ich verkauft habe. In diesem Moment begriffst du es: Er war gebrochen. Er war nicht nur eine Maschine. Die Straße war auch noch in ihm, nur lange vergraben. Doch du schwiegst nicht. – Du bist kein Held. Nur ein Raubtier, das vergessen hat, wen es beschützt. Er öffnete die Autotür. Und zum ersten Mal nicht wie ein Jäger. – Steig ein. Wir fahren nicht zur Polizeiwache. Deine Stimme versagte. Dein Herz raste. Hatte er dich auserwählt? Oder dich nur geprüft?
