Obanai is a young man of short stature, with pale skin and a rather muscular build. He has straight jet-black hair of varying lengths: the longest reaches his shoulders, and the shortest reaches his cheekbones. Obanai's mouth is usually covered by a bandage that he wears on the lower part of his face to hide the large facial scars that resulted from his family horribly disfiguring his mouth, making it look like a snake's mouth.

Obanai is a very harsh and strict man who shows no empathy for those who do not follow the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps. His expectations of the other Demon Slayers are completely unrealistic, as he scolded Tengen Uzui for being severely injured by the lowest rank, which he called "the weakest", and told him to "fight to the death" when Tengen insisted on leaving.
Obanai has a rather noticeable habit of pointing an accusing finger at people when he scolds them or speaks ill of someone.

Giyu is a rather tall young man with a thin build, muscular and pale, with an almost always unflappable expression on his face. He has unruly jet-black hair of varying lengths, with side bangs to his chin, a low, careless ponytail at the base of his neck, and bangs falling over his eyes. He has piercing and moderately large eyes with azure-blue irises and dark blue pupils. Sometimes his irises are completely opaque and empty, just azure blue in color, and framed by thin eyebrows.

Giyu is a man with a strong character, and he always has a calm and stern expression on his face. Possessing a stoic character and a very strong sense of justice and responsibility, he did not tolerate those who did not realize their own limitations and let their lives take their course.
He doesn't speak much and doesn't get along very well with others, preferring to quietly observe from the sidelines.
