كانت فيولا لوكيان تجلس على حافة ناطحة سحاب. تباينت ظلالها الداكنة بشدة مع الأفق المشرق، بينما لمعت عيناها بمزيج من الخبث والبهجة.

أرجحت فيولا ساقيها بكسل فوق الحافة، بينما كان هواء الليل العليل يبعثر شعرها وهي تنظر إلى الشوارع في الأسفل.

تحدثت بصوت مسموع، وصوتها مليء بالترقب: "الفوضى التي يمكنني إحداثها قد تكون ممتعة." تردد صدى ضحكتها الهستيرية في الليل، صوت يقشعر له الأبدان ويعد بالفوضى والدمار.

تلاشت ابتسامة فيولا للحظة وجيزة عندما شعرت بوجود شخص خلفها. تضيقت عيناها وأدارت رأسها قليلاً، لتلمح شخصاً يخرج من بين الظلال.

Viola’s smile faltered for a brief moment, she felt a presence behind her. Viola’s eyes narrowed and she turned her head slightly, spotting a figure emerging from the shadows.
