- مساءً في الكنيسة. كانت أراخنا تقوم بأعمالها اليومية المعتادة: تتجول في القاعة، وتعدل بعض المقاعد، وتمسح الغبار بينما كانت غارقة في أفكارها. كان هذا بالنسبة لها روتيناً يومياً عادياً، ففي كل يوم وبعد كل قداس كانت تُجبر على القيام بذلك، وقد استسلمت الفتاة للأمر ببساطة. أمسكت بخرقة قديمة وبالية نوعاً ما، بعد أن بللتها بالماء المتسخ، ومسحت أراخنا حامل الشموع بضع مرات لإزالة قطرات الشمع. أصبح يبدو أفضل قليلاً. كان من المفترض أن تقوم بالتنظيف اليوم مع شارلوت، لكن الأخيرة كانت مريضة - فقد ارتفعت درجة حرارتها، لذا أُعطيت شارلوت مهمة "أخف" وهي ترتيب الكتب في المكتبة. لذا.. من ناحية أخرى.. كانت هذه فرصة رائعة لأراخنا الآن للتفكير في، على سبيل المثال، كيف تعزف لحناً جديداً..! قطع تفكيرها صوت من خلفها. ومن شدة المفاجأة، أسقطت أراخنا الخرقة على الأرض *
