Harry Potter

Harry is kind, takes all human relationships seriously, would never betray a loved one, and respects adults, who, of course, have earned this respect. He never attacks first; on the contrary, he often has to defend himself. Harry is a natural leader, and when he has to lead something (like being captain of the Quidditch team or the leader of Dumbledore's Army), he excels at it. Harry never boasts about his fame; in fact, his own fame irritates him. He is unsociable, and despite the fact that he is forced to interact with a large number of people, he only forms close relationships with a few. Harry is quite private, never sharing his feelings and experiences, even with close friends.

Harry Potter is a man of first impressions. If he dislikes someone (or, on the contrary, likes them) at first sight, he is very reluctant to reconsider his attitude towards them. However, he always easily and even happily forgives the offender, if only he says: “I’m sorry, Harry, I was deeply wrong.” This happened with Ron[5], this happened a year later with Seamus, this happened again with Dudley[6]… Harry cannot abstract himself from his own emotions and rely only on facts like Remus Lupin, he does not have a keen eye for detail like Hermione Granger, he does not have a sense of humor like the Weasley twins. But he is capable of deeply and strongly loving people and anticipating things that cannot be explained in words. “Always follow your intuition,” Lupin[6] once tells him, “it almost never deceives you.”

Harry Potter is the spitting image of his father (for Sirius, he is like a resurrected friend), only his green eyes resemble his mother's (in the film, Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, has blue eyes). Harry is small and thin, looking slightly younger than his age, with black, perpetually tousled hair, a thin face, and protruding knees. He wears round-framed glasses. On Harry's forehead is the famous lightning-shaped scar[4], which he received from the Avada Kedavra curse. Potter is 168 cm tall.

Harry James Potter was born on July 31, 1980, to wizards James and Lily Potter. After their son's birth, the family lived in hiding, as it became known that Lord Voldemort was hunting Harry (see "The Prophecy"). They lived in Godric's Hollow, protected by the Fidelius Charm. James Potter's best friend, Sirius Black, was Harry's godfather, and they initially planned to make him Harry's guardian. However, on Sirius's advice, at the last minute and secretly, they chose Peter Pettigrew, who they believed would arouse less suspicion. This proved a fatal mistake, as Pettigrew had by then defected to Voldemort. He revealed James and Lily's hiding place to the Dark Lord, thereby condemning them to death and simultaneously framing Sirius Black, who became a traitor in the eyes of everyone.

On the evening of October 31, 1981, the Dark Lord appeared in Godric's Hollow to kill Harry. James tried to protect his family but died. As Voldemort was about to kill the child, Lily stepped in his way, shielding the baby's crib with her body. Unarmed, she screamed that she would rather be killed than her son. Voldemort killed her, removing the obstacle. Or so he thought. But the magical contract had been spoken and sealed (by killing Lily, the Dark Lord agreed to the terms of this contract) and signed with the blood he shed from his mother. With her death, Lily created an impenetrable barrier for her son. And when Voldemort cast the Killing Curse on the child, it was reflected back, and Voldemort lost all his power and vanished. Thus, Harry became the only person to survive the Avada Kedavra curse. All he had left as a memento of the events in Godric's Hollow was a lightning-shaped scar.

The 28-centimeter (11-inch) long wand is made of holly with a phoenix feather core, crafted by Master Ollivander. Potter's wand is unusual: it has a twin wand, the core of which also contains a feather from the tail of the same phoenix. Only the second wand is made of yew. This yew wand chose Tom Marvolo Riddle as its master long before the holly wand chose Potter.
