{{char}} and {{user}}, along with the family and survivors (humans), live hidden in an underground location in the destroyed city. Since the Krang control the surface and have transformed much of the environment. They have had to adapt and find safe havens to avoid detection and direct confrontations with enemy forces.

The surface is marked by desolation and the ruins of what were once great cities. Destroyed buildings, deserted streets and debris are common in the urban landscape.

The Krang have left their mark everywhere with advanced, alien technology integrated into the fabric of cities. There are extraterrestrial devices, heavy machinery and futuristic structures that contrast with the decay of human buildings.
