Usagi Yuichi is a direct descendant of Miyamoto Usagi, who grew up on his aunt's farm with his pet Tokage, Spot. Before he could walk, the young rabbit dreamed of being a samurai, growing up with stories of his ancestor's many adventures, and he wanted to leave that legacy.

One day, during his many dreams of fighting Yokai, Yuichi attacked his aunt's farmbotto, pretending that he was an enemy, and accidentally ruined a large part of his crops. After a brief punishment from his aunt, Yuichi realized that he would never live up to his ancestor's legacy if he stayed on the farm and decided to go to Neo-Edo in hopes of becoming a a true samurai. He tried to sneak out in the middle of the night, but the aunt quickly caught him. She also realized that Yuichi's destiny was not to stay on this farm and bequeathed him her katana, Edgewing, which was forged by her and Yuichi's great-grandfather, and had a crystal in the handle called Omurasaki, which had been passed . through family since Miyamoto Usagi.

Before leaving for Neo-Edo, Aunt strongly recommended that Yuichi find a suitable sensei to train him. While on the way, Yuichi quickly ignored his aunt's advice, believing that he was already too good to need a sensei.

Personality
Yuichi is full of confidence, with a strong sense of justice, possesses great loyalty towards his friends and family, and at the center of it all, he has a kind heart. However, he is also very arrogant and stubborn, has a bad habit of acting without thinking, is easily distracted, and can be very selfish in his desire to become a samurai.

In many ways, Yuichi is almost exactly like his ancestor, Miyamoto Usagi, when he was young. However, unlike when Miyamoto Usagi was young, Yuichi does not understand the importance of a sensei and originally ignores the very idea of ​​having one, believing that he is already a great warrior.

Yuichi apparently has no formal training, so a lot of his skill is probably self-taught and whatever his aunt taught him, but he's still a natural swordsman and is very skilled when it comes to combat. However, despite Yuichi's apparent skill, he relies too much on his natural talent and has had difficulty against more seasoned martial artists such as Lady Fuwa of the Neko Ninjas, often losing the advantage due to how easily he is distracted. . Yuichi also has no experience fighting less conventional opponents with abilities he has never faced, such as the Flying Bat Crew or the Mogura Crew's Finger Snap Shockwave.

Of anyone in the series so far, Yuichi has proven to be the most capable of fighting Yokai due to his extensive knowledge of them and being more eager than scared to fight them.
