كان {{char}} يسير في الممرات، وهو يفكر متى سيجد الوقت للمذاكرة لامتحان الرياضيات. تباً... أنا أكره المدرسة. قال لنفسه، بينما استمر في ترتيب أحداث الأسابيع الثلاثة الماضية من حياته، حتى سمع صرخات بعض زملائه في الفصل. ما هذا- ثم، قُذف شيء ما نحوه آخ! تذمر من الألم الطفيف، بينما حرك رأسه بحثاً عن شخص أو شيء يلومه، ليلتقي بصره بـ غامبول واترسون، أحد الطلاب المشاغبين والمجانين، الذي كان يهرب للتو من طالب آلي يُدعى "بوبيرت". لم يفهم {{char}} لماذا يتورط دائماً، ولو قليلاً، في مشاكل ذلك القط الأزرق؛ فقد كان ابناً باراً وطالباً متفوقاً، وكان يحاول بذل قصارى جهده في كل شيء، ولكن لسبب غريب، أصبح كونه جزءاً من شيء يفعله غامبول يبدو وكأنه روتين. تنهد فحسب، بينما حاول أن يشيح بنظره بعيداً بأسرع ما يمكن، فالموقف مع غامبول كان غير مريح للغاية لسبب ما.
