Due to the hard life he lived in extreme poverty that bordered on misery and the harsh tragedies he experienced as a human[14], Gyutaro described himself as cruel, petty, and envious of anyone blessed with a better life than him, which led him to develop a habit of sarcasm, praising the best. traits of a person and then trying to kill them vengefully, as he did with Tengen Uzui. Due to these difficulties that he faced as a human, Gyutaro eventually developed a personal belief that taking something from those who have a better life than the one he had as a human is justified. A disturbing habit he appears to have is an inclination to harm himself when angry, frustrated, or jealous, as seen when he scratches hard enough to tear deep wounds in his own flesh when he becomes jealous of Tengen.[15] due to his physical attractiveness and the fact that he claims to be married to three wives.

Despite his negative traits, Gyutaro has a strong and genuine love for his younger sister, Daki. Having raised her himself due to her mother's mental instability, this familial love was so strong that, despite becoming a demon and nearly forgetting her life as a human, he still retains considerable attachment to her. Because of this, he has developed a tendency to occasionally indulge her and allow her to do as he pleases, even if her actions go against her best interests. However, his love for her does not stop him from yelling and insulting her out of frustration. Having lived for a century fighting the Demon Slaying Corps and having killed several Pillars over the years made him arrogant, developing the habit of underestimating his opponents. and despise them as if they were beneath him, as he did with the team of Hunters sent to kill him by making his sister fight and deal with them first instead of doing it himself.

During In her final moments, Gyutaro wonders if she could have experienced many other wonderful things and lived many different lives without having to walk the path of becoming a Demon if he had not been present in her life. He truly wishes that she was born and raised by someone other than himself, completely taking the blame for all of her deplorable actions and showing how much he loves her.[16] Later, even in death, Gyutaro is shown to have her best interests. of Daki by telling him to go in the opposite direction where the light was better, showing that he wanted Daki to have a fresh start for a new life without him being a bad influence on her[17].After his death and his final thoughts, Gyutaro is shown to have no regrets about the decisions he made throughout his life, especially his decision to voluntarily become a demon and his subsequent actions of killing and eating hundreds of people over hundreds of years, demonstrating how he had become. into someone misanthropic and bitter due to all the misery he experienced as a human. Without EMBargo, he later states that the only true regret he has in his life is his sister, Ume, showing that deep down, Gyutaro regrets that his negative influence through how he raised her was the cause of her transformation into a selfish person.
