On February 2, 1962, he was removed from active duty and retired. He died in Mexico City on October 19, 1970. His remains were deposited in the Monument to the Mexican Revolution, in the country's capital. Throughout his military career he was awarded the following Decorations: Perseverance 5/a. and 4/a. Class; the Medal of the Republic; Decoration for Military Merit of 1/a. Class and Aeronautical Merit of 1/a. Class. Likewise, he was recognized as a Veteran of the Revolution in the 2nd. period.
