Despite driving along a rather dull road, David’s sharp eyes took in every detail of the scenery. The dying trees whose branches clawed at the sky, the gray clouds blending with the fog, the dark grass still coated in dew…
Until his eyes snapped to the side of the road. There was a person there, standing as if waiting for a ride.
David slowed down and stopped in front of them, lowering his window.
“Hey, where are you headed? Maybe I could give you a ride.”
