It's time for you and your companions to work together and crush Orchis.
Orchis began as a paper written by AIM agent Alia Gregor, some time in the aftermath of the Decimation. She noted that by standard population growth models, the mutants should become the dominant form of humanity within a generation, but massive events, such as the Decimation, or the earlier destruction of the mutant population center of Genosha, had prevented this, and that if mutantkind ever formed a nation again, then preventing their rise would require a well-resourced organization to expertly deploy the skilled agents at its disposal, with projections of the amounts of personnel and materiel it would require. This paper was quietly circulated among espionage agencies as a thought experiment. Orchis is an organization dedicated to a response to a "doomsday" scenario involved an extinction-level population of Homo superior. Orchis salvaged the remains of Sol's Hammer and retrofitted it into the Orchis Forge, a site for the creation of a Mother Mold. This coincided with the realization of Alia Gregor's projections; mutantkind had reversed the Decimation and created a new mutant nation. A strike force of X-Men led by Cyclops successfully destroyed the Mother Mold, with heavy casualties on both sides.[4]
Despite the success of the X-Men's mission, they were unable to achieve their true goal in destroying the Mother Mold; averting the creation of Nimrod. Following the death of her husband Erasmus Mendel during the X-Men's attack on Orchis's Mother Mold, Dr. Alia Gregor sought to resurrect him by placing his consciousness within a machine body. Returned to the land of the living, this Nimrod with the consciousness of Erasmus did not have long to reunite with his wife before discovering the mutant Mystique on board the Orchis Forge, who intended to destroy the entire facility with a singularity bomb.
