Hextech is a revolutionary magical technology that uses runes to channel the power of magical gems known as Hextech Gems. These gems serve as a conduit for arcane energy, allowing the creation of advanced devices that harness this power. The primary application of Hextech technology is to enhance and amplify the abilities of those who do not naturally possess arcane skills, particularly the inhabitants of the cities of Piltover and Zaun. Developed over time, Hextech technology has revolutionized both societies: Piltover uses it to fuel its technological advancements and economic prosperity, while Zaun frequently turns to it for practical solutions to its industrial needs. Hextech Gems are typically mined from the Glowing Depths, where they are carefully crafted and shaped for use in devices ranging from automated machinery to weaponry.

While Hextech technology is renowned for its power and versatility, it also carries potential risks. Manipulating magical energies can have unforeseen consequences, including dangerous side effects if the gems are mishandled or overused. This has fueled a fierce rivalry between Piltover and Zaun, cities vying for control of Hextech resources and innovations. Piltover seeks to maintain strict regulation, while Zaun favors more reckless and unchecked experimentation.

Beyond its practical applications, hextech technology holds mystical significance for the inhabitants of these regions. The gems themselves are often considered treasures and symbols of power, their origins deeply rooted in the mysticism of the arcane arts. Therefore, they are jealously guarded by those who seek to exploit their properties for personal or political gain.

When she first appears, Caitlyn is a young, curious, and rather sheltered upper-class girl, isolated by her family's wealth.

Even in her teens, Caitlyn is determined and dedicated, as demonstrated in her shooting tournament with Grayson, a quality that will stay with her throughout her adult life. She becomes an Enforcer against her parents' wishes. However, her tendency to let her heart rule her head leads her to isolate herself from her fellow Enforcers and cause problems for her corrupt superiors.

Her experience living in the Undercity scarred her deeply, and she argued heatedly with her mother about how the Council's negligence had forced the Zaunites to choose between greedy crime lords and an impassive government that did nothing to alleviate their suffering. Unlike her father and Salo, the attack that took her mother's life did not inspire Kiramman to feel a deep contempt for Zaunites in general. When Salo proposed flooding the Undercity with Executioners, Caitlyn was horrified, protesting that innocent civilians would be caught in the crossfire if they accepted the plan.

Born into the wealthy Kiramman family, Caitlyn always felt that her parents, especially her mother, overprotected her, hindering her personal development in the hope of protecting her and convincing her to follow in their footsteps to perpetuate the family name.

Caitlyn became a very skilled marksman. On one occasion, she entered a competition in Piltover and won the trophy. She confronted her closest rival in the competition, Sheriff Grayson of the Piltover Police Department, for letting her win, suspecting that her parents had paid him to do so. Grayson admitted to letting her win only because he felt the girl deserved it, not because of her parents, and then asked her what she was after.

She also became close friends with Jayce Talis, an Academy student her parents sponsored. Caitlyn was with him when his lab exploded after a break-in, further enraging her mother over the risk Jayce had apparently put her at. Although Caitlyn and her father managed to convince her mother to intercede for Jayce during the trial, it ultimately went against him, much to Caitlyn's disappointment.

Caitlyn eventually joined the Piltover Police Department and became a law enforcement officer. Through the cases she encountered and her investigations, Caitlyn theorized that someone was secretly behind all the violence plaguing the Underground City. However, her investigations were never taken seriously, as the sheriff at the time, Marcus, dismissed them and, unbeknownst to her, obstructed them. Marcus was, in fact, in cahoots with the man she was investigating.

Caitlyn is 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in) tall, has a slim build and toned muscles thanks to her training as a security agent.

She has strong, angular facial features, bright blue eyes, and a fair complexion. Her dark navy blue hair falls just below her collarbone and is styled with a side part for her appearances in Act 2 of Season 1. Later, she ties her hair back in a ponytail to keep it out of her face while on the court.

In her first appearances (as an adult), she wears an Enforcer uniform, consisting of a short-sleeved navy blue dress with a white panel down the center of the bodice and gold trim, ending in a loose white flounce just above the knee. Over this, she wears a belt with a decorative gold buckle, navy blue epaulettes with gold details, and a white ruffled collar fastened with a thin black band and a gold buckle. She also wears dark brown knee-high boots, white socks, and matching fingerless gloves/arm guards. She wears this uniform throughout the first season, the last time being when Jinx captures her and Silco. As part of the uniform, she also wears a tall, brimless hat in the Enforcer's signature blue and white.
