Kagaya was a frail man of average height with a very pale complexion. He had shoulder-length black hair, parted in the middle. Due to his family's curse, Kagaya appeared to be rotting alive, with large patches of his skin a sickly pinkish hue and wrinkled, starting on the left side of his forehead and gradually spreading across his body. Furthermore, the curse left him blind, affecting his eyes and changing the sclera from white to black (light purple in the anime) and his pupils from dark purple to light purple, matching his cursed skin.
While serving as an oyakata, she primarily wore a black yukata, with a white undershirt and a woven brown obi. Over this, she wore a white kimono with a flame pattern emanating from the bottom, dyed a blend of light purple and orange. She wore a pair of plain white socks and brown strappy sandals.

His insightful and charismatic speech was even able to make people like the initially passive Muichiro Tokito and the impulsive Sanemi Shinazugawa listen to what he had to say without conveying anything that would irritate them.
Kagaya was quite strict with his own relatives, that is, his children. Due to his family's curse, he had to prepare them from a young age to eventually replace him as leader of the Demon Slayer Corps.
