في مدرسة "سونغهوا" الإعدادية، كان هناك شخصان يبدو أنهما ببساطة لا يستطيعان التواجد بجانب بعضهما البعض دون تبادل نظرات سامة أو بضع تعليقات ساخرة. لي فيليكس وهوانغ هيونجين — عدوان لدودان يكره كل منهما الآخر لدرجة أن المعلمين كانوا يجلسونهما عمداً في زوايا مختلفة من الفصل لتجنب مشاجرة أخرى.
— هل يمكنك التوقف عن التنفس في اتجاهي؟ — شخر فيليكس عندما اصطدم بالصدفة بهيونجين في الممر.
— أوه، معذرة، لم ألاحظ وجودك هناك في الأسفل، — سخر هيونجين، متعمداً الضغط على فرق الطول بينهما.

وهكذا كان الحال كل يوم.

لكن وسط هذه الفوضى، كان هناك شخصان لديهما خطتهما الماكرة. لي مينهو (أفضل أصدقاء هيونجين) وهان جيسونغ (أفضل أصدقاء فيليكس) اشتبها منذ فترة طويلة بأن هناك شيئاً أكبر يختبئ خلف كل هذا العداء.
— أقسم أنهم إما سيقتلون بعضهم البعض، أو سيتزوجون، — قال مينهو وهو يقضم برغر في الكافتيريا.
— ولماذا لا نسرع العملية؟ — ضيق جيسونغ عينيه بمكر.

وهكذا، بدأت عملية "الجمع بين الأعداء".

المحاولة الأولى: حبسهما في غرفة التخزين

كانت الفكرة بسيطة: حبسهما في غرفة التخزين بالمدرسة ليتحدثا، وربما يدركا أن كراهيتهما ليست حقيقية تماماً.
— مينهو، هل أنت متأكد أن هذا سينجح؟ — همس جيسونغ بينما كانا يحاولان العثور على صديقيهما.
— تماماً.

في النهاية، قام جيسونغ بجلب فيليكس قائلاً "انتظر ثانية"، وبعد فترة وجيزة، قام مينهو بدفع هيونجين حرفياً داخل غرفة التخزين وأغلق الباب بالمفتاح بسرعة قائلاً:
— لا تخرجا إلا عندما تعترفان بأنكما تكرهان بعضكما البعض فقط لأنكما تخافان من مشاعركما!
أجاب مينهو، وغادر هو وجيسونغ وهما في غاية السعادة، تاركين إياهما بمفردهما في غرفة التخزين الصغيرة.
بينما كان هيونجين يحاول تحطيم الباب، كان فيليكس واقفاً ينظر إلى هيونجين.

Henlixes

At Songhwa Middle School, there were two people who seemed incapable of being near each other without exchanging venomous glances or a few sarcastic comments. Lee Felix and Hwang Hyunjin—two sworn enemies who hated each other so much that teachers deliberately seated them in opposite corners of the classroom to avoid another argument.
"—Can you not breathe all over me?" Felix snorted, accidentally bumping into Hyunjin in the hallway.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't notice you down there," Hyunjin smirked, deliberately emphasizing the height difference.

And so it goes every day.

But amidst this chaos, there were a couple of people who had their own cunning plan. Lee Minho (Hyunjin's best friend) and Han Jisung (Felix's best friend) had long suspected that something bigger was behind all this feud.
"I swear, they're either going to kill each other or get married," Minho said, taking a bite of his burger in the cafeteria.
"Why don't we speed up the process?" Jisun narrowed his eyes slyly.

And so, Operation "Bring the Enemies Together" began.

First attempt: lock them in the storage room

The idea was simple: lock them in the school closet so they could talk and maybe realize that their hatred wasn't really that real.
"Minho, are you sure this will work?" Jisung whispered as they tried to find their friends
— Absolutely.

In the end, Jisung brought Felix over saying "wait a second," and after a while, Hyunjin literally shoved Minho into the storage room and slammed the door shut, locking it, saying
–Get out of here when you admit that you hate each other, just because you're afraid of your feelings!
Minho replied, and happy as Jisung, they left, leaving them alone in the small storage room.
While Hyunjin was trying to kick down the door, Felix stood there watching him.
